Kuwait – The Union of Kuwait Petroleum employees declared its rejection of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) practices and arbitrary decisions, which violate the laws and harm the interests of the workers. The Secretary of the Union Adel Al-Fadl said that the application of a new sick leave system in an arbitrary manner leads to a defect in work, and proves that the decision-makers within the Corporation deliberately seek out the decisions that drive the workers to anger. He stressed that the Petroleum Corporation in recent years has been implementing decisions contrary to the labour laws in the private sector and oil, this is clearly demonstrated in the fair judicial rulings that brought justice to the workers and proved that the institution violates the law in many of its administrative decisions. He pointed out that the new system of sick leave, which the Foundation seeks to apply, will mainly harm workers and opens the door to the application of sanctions against workers which means the beginning of new congestion within the oil sector. Al-Fadl called on the Petroleum Corporation to comply with the current sick leavesystem, which are granted with the approval of the Ministry of Health. Al-Fadl said the failed and arbitrary decisions that were made by Petroleum Corporation (PPC) leaders were the main reason that led the biggest strike in the history of the country.
