The Tunisian government has agreed with the Tunisian General Union of Labour (UGTT) to deal with the issue of tens of thousands of vulnerable workers and settle their professional positions next March at latest
It is known that about 80 thousand of workers, who were recruited after the revolution in 2011 in several specialties, sectors and public institutions, are working in very a bad situation. Their salaries do not exceed $ 100 per month and they work without contracts and social or financial protection. They went through several protest movements to ask for a final settlement to their professional status.
None of the successive governments after the revolution was able to settle this file, which the Tunisian General Union of Labour (UGTT) insists that it should be resolved, while the government is seeking to lay off tens of thousands of public sector workers.
This has led observers to question the extent of the possibility of reaching and succeed in settling this file, in light of the difficult economic and social conditions and the current political crisis in the county.
