The General Union of Electricity Workers called for the preservation of workers’ rights, in the central electricity generating company and the insurance of their job security. They asked the government to not agree to the restructuring procedure for the company unless; there are guarantees that protect their rights.
” Ali Al-Hadid” ,the union’s spokesman, expressed his concern and fear from the request submitted by the Central Electricity Generating Company ,to restructure the company and turn it into a maintenance and operating company. The union saw this as a prelude to the destabilisation of workers, especially that “Aqua Power”, which was granted the “Zarqa company project to generate electricity by the previous government, did not meet the governments commitments as, it laid-off and ended the services of many workers.
