Libya: Two human rights organizations accuse Italy and the European Unionfor torturing migrants

Amnesty International and Oxfam have accused Italy and the European Union of complicity in the torture and ill-treatment of thousands of migrants stuck in Libya.

The two organizations criticized the immigration agreement signed by Italy with Libya 12 months ago, with the support of the European Union. They considered the agreement as a cause for the sufferings of migrants, which deepened their harsh conditions and make them victims of torture, arbitrary detention, extortion and systematic rape of women. As a result, they ask to cancel this agreement immediately.
