Palestine: PGFTU Women’s Department approves annual plan

PALESTINE- Women and Gender Department at the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) approved its 2015- 2016 annual plan of action and trade union activities.
PGFTU Secretary-General, Shaher Saad, stressed on PGFTU’s interest in the role played by Women and Gender Department, in terms to embracing issues of Palestinian women workers, and advocating for their cause in various sectors, in addition to PGFTU’s keenness to activate this role, through support of the Department’s plans, and increase working women membership in the PGFTU’s branches and in PGFTU’s elected bodies up to 30% at a minimum.
Member of Executive Committee, secretary of Women and Gender Department, Aisha Hmoudah, presented strategic objectives for Women and Gender Department’s plan and mechanisms of action, particularly targeting women labor sectors, that suffer most due to violations in their rights especially in sewing and textile sectors, public services, kindergartens, as well as Women and Gender Department’s interest in following-up gender-based violence issues at workplace.
