During an ATUC seminar in Tunisia on sidelines of 2015 World Social Forum, which kicked off last Tuesday with ten thousands participation representatives of organizations, and democratic powers against terrorism and globalization?
The seminar, titled “Together for free, democratic and fair Arab society in the face of terrorism,” presented a number of papers on role of Arab trade unions in fight against terrorism in the Arab region. Presenters reiterated their call to stand against terrorism through a new, integrated Arab vision to address dysfunctional situation that contributed to growth of terrorism.
Trade unionists explained that fight against terrorism must be based on a number of requirements, including reforming “unfair” economic and social policies that are “biased” for the rich and powerful which led to increased poverty, unemployment and social exclusion rates and created social environments that are fertile for terrorism.
Trade unionists also called for reforming deteriorating education systems that are based on disabling Arab mind and that impede the development of its conscious, a matter that contributed to reproduction of underdevelopment processes, which entails the need for dissemination of culture of the enlightenment and human rights in order to tackle them.
