Amending Egyptian labor laws

EGYPT- Egyptian Trade Union Federation’s (ETUF) Vice President and president of Local Federation in Helwan workers“Magdy El-Badri” emphasized that trade union federations seek to develop several laws to strengthen and sustain temporary employment, such as laws of health insurance and social insurance for workers to ensure that they receive pensions, as well as the development of the labor law, which government is drafting to ensure th protection for worker within workplace environment.

“The new civil service law will create a lot of positive effects for workers, since it aims to restructure the government’s administrative sector and provide appropriate rehabilitation and training for workers, with a special focus on employees’ ability to do their job well without regard to seniority,” El-Badristated in a press statement.

El-Badri noted the presence of 5.5 million temporary workers working in government institutions, pointing out that some businessmen violate workers’ rights by forcing them to sign form (6) which terminates workers’ employment before they commence their work.
