Delay in disbursing salaries hit Mauritanian workers hard

MAURITANIA— Public sector workers in Mauritania expressed their anger over the delay in disbursing their salaries, noting that this is due to the treasurers absence.

They noted that he is absent as he is in a trip to the state of Atararzh to receive the countrys president.

Salaries will be postponed for one or two weeks due to that according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to the same sources, this is not the first time where salaries of thousands of workers are delayed for the same reason.

They added that payments allocated for other public corporations, national agencies and private contractors, and non-formal workers are also delayed sometimes for few months due to the same reason.
