Morocco: Launch of the campaign Gender Equality is my right, where is the will?

MOROCCO- A national outreach campaign entitled Gender Equality is my right, where is the will?” was launched today in Casablanca in partnership between the Arab Institute for Human Rights and the Movement for Equality Democracy, to enhance Moroccan women’s political participation and activation of political equality.
Mrs. Chmisah Ryaha, head of the Regional Committee for Human Rights in Casablanca and  regional program coordinator to promote women political participation in political parties and trade unions, said that “this campaign serves as a transition from commitment to  effective exercise of all constitutional and national obligations. She noted that this initiative was based on a study conducted by parties and national trade union centers about political empowerment of Moroccan women in order to monitor reality and diagnose the main obstacles that prevent lifting level of women political representation and enabling them to assume leadership positions, which calls for efforts mobilization and mobilize institutions to engage in this development project which would enhance women’s political participation.”
Khadija al-Rabah,  Movement for Equality Democracy stated that this outreach campaign, which will last until next July, fall within a regional program that aims to strengthening women political participation in political parties, trade unions and all elected institutions that represent fundamental basis for active citizenship and consolidation of democratic values and for collective elections. She called on this occasion for the need to reconsider all laws ensuring equity and promoting women’s political role.
