LEBANON— The International Labour Organizations (ILO) regional office for Arab states denied claims that it paid $40,000 or any other amount of money to organize a demonstration for migrant domestic helpers in Lebanon
In a statement it issued and published at Annahar newspaper, the agency stressed that in accordance to its constitution, it provided technical support and information to the migrant domestic helpers to develop their union.
The statement added that the ILO provides financial and technical support for its partners as part of certain programs to ensure “appropriate” work environment for workers, including domestic helpers.
The agency has also implemented different programs related to domestic helpers with several partners including the Ministry of Labour.
