EGYPT— Thousands of tax and customs workers protested in Cairo, calling on authorities to scrap the new civil service law and fire the finance and planning ministers.
Also workers at the public transport commission announced a partial work-stoppage describing the new law as unfair and unconstitutional.
In a statement they issued, workers said the government has issued the law without consulting workers in public sector and their unions which will harm their rights.
They also criticized the law as it has caused a large dent in their salaries and will increase financial burdens on them.
