A major construction company in Saudi refrains from paying salaries to its employees

SAUDI ARABIA— The Saudi Ministry of Labour has suspended it was providing for a major construction company after the latters failure to pay salaries of its employees in all its branches for several months. This move prompted the companys workers to gather outside the companys headquarters, demanding their payment.

Saudis staff in the company expressed their opinion about the situation on social media, and called for imposing wage protection program. However, Asian workers were reluctant to do the same.

The Ministrys spokesperson stressed that the ministry is following up on the issue, in coordination with the concerned authorities.

Wage protection program monitors the payment operations for all employees (Saudis and expatriates) in the private sector enterprises, in order to create a database, containing updated information on the payment of workers wages in the private, and determine the extent of comply to the obligation of wages payment on time and at the agreed-upon amount base.
