EGYPT- Workers strike at Ghazl El-Mahalla Garment Factory in El-Mahalla area continued for the second day in a row. Yesterday; nearly 25 thousand male and female workers began a strike to demand reimbursement for rest of two month-bonus ratio for fiscal year 2013/2014, the announcement of a timetable for company’s development plans, opening of some corruption files and dismissal of company’s commissioner-general Farag Awad.
The trade union leader, Faisal Lagoucha explained that company’s workers have lost confidence in any government promises, especially after the decision of the Minister of Agriculture to stop subsidizing Egyptian cotton cultivation which confirms lack of seriousness of government in development of spinning industry in the country.
