MOROCCO- Workers in bus transportation declared a three-day open and renewable strike at national level, including march toward capital city by bus, they protest in front of Ministry of Transportation. According to trade unions representing public transportation workers in Morocco, this sudden action was a response by workers against what they described as sudden and irresponsible policies by Minister of Transportation, Mohammed Najib Bolif, which includes systematic halt of public transportation contracting in Morocco.
Trade unionists suspended open dialogue with the Ministry, demanding for a royal intervention to resolve the crisis and threatening to resort to courts to challenge the Minister’s decisions. Core of their demands was a call for the abolition of arbitrary decision taken by the Ministry, serious and responsible return to dialogue on sector reform and resolve any outstanding issues, which was reached following a meeting with representatives of Ministry with six of public transportation committees in December 2014. All parties unanimously agreed on the importance to reforming public transportation sector to serve workers and investors alike.
