LEBANON— Four Lebanese trade unions said they support the appointment of the daily-paid workers at the National Social Security Fund, who protested in call for permanent appointment.
The National Federation of Trade Unions and employees, Federation of Building and Wood Workers, the Union of Food Industry Workers and the Federation of Trade Unions in Bekaa, announced their solidarity with the protesting workers.
In a statement issued yesterday, the four unions noted that although they have been working in these jobs for many years, those workers are not benefiting or enjoying the rights that their full-time colleagues enjoy.
The statement called on the concerned parties, to give these workers their rights, starting with the House of Representatives, the government, the Council of the Social Security Administration, and the General Workers Union, which has 10 members in the House of insurance management, public administration, and the trade union of the social security employees.
