Egypt:-Workers Bloc refrains from participating in the parliamentary elections

EGYPT- In an expanded meeting, the Egyptian Workers Bloc Secretariat confirmed that it would abstain from participating in upcoming parliamentary elections, due to repressive measures adopted by government agencies against protesters, including most recent killing 22 of Al- Zamalek club Ultras White Knights fans, bringing into question the integrity of upcoming election battle.
Egyptian Workers Bloc pointed out to rise countering workers protests by implementing more acts of repression, which was assault against the strike that was held by packaging workers at Torah Cement Company, as well as repeated abuse acts against honorable workers’ leaders that are judged to be loyal to January Revolution, same as El-Mahalla Textile Company incident, and dismissal of 17 workers at Postal Authority a week ago.
The Egyptian Workers Bloc considered that ruling authorities’ dismissal of demands for Democratic Alliance Movement, which includes them, regarding abolition of restrictions on assembly and peaceful protest rights, and to stop human rights violations and failure to provide the minimum of democratic climate at parliamentary elections, as a new indication on ongoing negative prevailing trend, prompting the Egyptian Workers Bloc to refrain from taking part in parliamentary elections.
