Jordan: A study confirms gender pay gap

JORDAN- A recent study by Department of Statistics showed a large gender monthly pay gap in Jordan, reaching 27.1% or higher among bachelor degree holders in public sector compared to 40.7% in private sector.
The private sector is the largest employer in Jordan, where it employs 69% of Jordanians and non-Jordanians working in the Kingdom, the proportion of females in public sector stood at 36.5%, while the number of males was 63.5%. While as the Public sector outperforms the private sector in proportion of female employment; proportion of females stood at 17.7% of total employees in the private sector, and males stood at 82.3%.
