EGYPT- Representatives of four trade union federations announced their withdrawal from discussion of a draft labor law and refrained from signing.
Representatives of Egyptian Federation of Independent Trade Unions, Democratic Trade Union of Egyptian Workers, Egyptian Trade Unions Federation and Free Union of Egyptian Workers decided to withdraw from dialogue sessions following a debate and criticism against the draft that was put forward for social dialogue.
Withdrawal came as a response to discussions violated workers’ rights during the session, where Minister of Manpower, Dr. Nahed Ashri, insisted to vote on each of topics, where employers outnumbered workers’ representatives, which tipped balance in favor of employers against workers in any voting.
