The Moroccan Workers’ Union (UMT) steps up and stages astrike

MOROCCO-The UMT called for a national strike in public service sector on April 2 that coincides with morocco celebrations of May Day in a move to escalate and to protest against what they described as government’s “negligence” of their demands.
UMT calls for matching the increase in prices with a general increase in wages and pensions for retirees, reducing taxes on wages, cancelling taxes on pensions and respecting employees and workers gains associated with the Moroccan Retirement Fund.
The UMT criticized, in a statement, government’s plans that seek to pass proposals to raise retirement age, raise deduction from wages and lower pensions.
