IRAQ- The Iraqi General Federation of Independent Unions held a ceremony to mark the International Women’s Day and to officially announce federation’s establishment.
Festival was attended by representatives of local government, media directors in governmental bodies, representatives of movements and parties in addition to representatives of trade and professional unions and civil society.
In his opening speech, Abbas KathemRabatt, president in General Federation of Independent Unions, called on the Iraqi parliament to accelerate endorsing a trade unions freedom’s law.
He also congratulated Iraqi women in occasion of women’s day.
The event also included several speeches for representatives from civil society organizations who highlighted the role of women and importance of women’s empowerment.
