Tourah cement company workers stage sit-in

EGYPT –Members in trade union committee at Egyptian Tourah Portland Cement Company have continued their sit-in staged at the managing director’s office atItalcementi Company.
They also threatened to move their sit-in to Italian embassy, until their demands are met.

According to the committee, the company is refusing to implement profit-related agreement signed in 2006. “The company is intentionally not profitable as it has public shareholders while state is not defending that,” said Mohammad Ramzi, head of trade union committee.

Meanwhile, the company has issued a statement noting that it has not deprived its employees of their “fair share” from annual profits in accordance to provisions of group work agreements.
