PALESTINE- In a meeting held in Ramallah, the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) confirmed that social security act will be put into force this year.
PGFTU secretary general, Shaher Saad, explained that Social Security Act on Palestinians working in private sector in first phase will cover three aspects of social services, including entitlements of a bonus, end of service, aging and work-related injuries and maternity benefits for working women.
Saad pointed out that enacting and adopting the Social Security Act will contribute to provision of social protection for workers, explaining that Social Security funding sources rely primarily on monthly contributions of workers, employers, and the fund’s investments, and donations.
