MOROCCO- Dell, computer manufacturer, dismissed 69 workers, who enjoy work seniority for more than eight years, prompting Casablanca governor, Khalid Safeer, to intervene to resolve the crisis.
Workers accused Dell management of arbitrarily dismissing them at a time when, according to them, the company does not encounter any financial hardship. Workers believe that Dell management dismissed them after signing an agreement with other services company, and then requested its workers to sign new contracts that did not take into consideration their seniority and years of service at all.
Human Resources Manager, Mustafa Aupad, stated that Dell signed an agreement with an international company and urged its workers to sign new contracts to enlist them; however, the workers rejected all offers. Aupad explained that Dell is considering a new offer for workers, and a copy was sent to Special Committee, which was formed to solve the problem that headed by governor of Casablanca.
