EGYPT – Torah Cement Company Trade Union Committee members continued with their sit-in at the office of Italcementi Group representative, demanding to have their shares inprofits and threatened to mount their strike at Italian Embassy until they achieve all demands.
The Trade Union Committee said that the company declines to implement profit provision according to collective agreement concluded in April 2006, while Mohamed Ramzy, Trade Union Committee Chairman said that “the company’s loss is purposefully caused by someone, noting that profits have public shares owned by government, and government does not defend its own rights.”
On the other hand, Torah Cement Company issued a statement, stressing that it never deprived the employees from their fair share in annual profits under provisions of collective labor agreements.
