IRAQ- Dozens of employees who are dispatched from South Gas Company (SGC) to Basrah Gas Company (BGC) protested on Tuesday April 14 calling for better incentives.
The BGC is a $17.2-billion joint venture set up in November 2011 to gather and process gas from the three southern oilfields in Rumaila, West Qurna 1, and Zubair; that owned by the Iraqi SGC (51%), Shell (44%) and Mitsubishi (5%).
In a statement they issued, protesters said they demand a raise in salaries and monthly rewards, in addition to distribution of annual dividends, other demands include ensuring independency of dispatched employees to be under the supervision of SGC, changing evaluation mechanism and to restudy mechanism of training programs ensuring that these programs are not excluded to a certain category, in addition to discuss allocating lands for them.
