IRAQ— Director of Diyala health directorate, Ali Hussain Tamimi, expressed his “concern” over the kidnapping of two doctors, fearing that this incident might encourage physicians in the governorate to leave.
He called on the security agencies to interfere to protect doctors in the governorate “before it is too late”.
Tamimi claimed that the “kidnapping of these doctors is a conspiracy” that aims to sabotage developments achieved in the health sector in Diyala.
He added that the governorate lost many of its qualified health workers over the past few years due to the security challenges there.
The directorate, according to Tamimi, will hold an urgent meeting to discuss the issue and to adopt the needed measures.
