LEBANON— A new civil society movement called “Citizens” announced starting its activities today in Lebanon.
The movement said in a statement that it combines the movement of workers in the public sector from across the country, in order to take responsibility on the basis of “citizenship”.
We are citizens, not followers of the leaders and not children of the communities… We are individual citizens, the law alone determines our rights and duties, and our free and informed consent alone determine our political choice…” the statement said.
It added that the male and female citizens movement … in a state that “does not call for any moral accountability” but calls on all Lebanese lead their way, review, diagnose and come up with an action plan for the transitional period.
