President of Sana’a University Teachers’ Union abducted by Houthi gunmen

YEMEN— Houthi gunmen also known as “Ansar Allah”, on Monday, abducted Mohammad Thaheri, president of the Union of Teachers at Sana’a University.

Thaheri’s whereabouts is still unknown, according to a member of the Union, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to the source, members of the Union tried to reach Thaheri on his “mobile” more than once, but all attempts failed.

Thaheri, who is a political science teacher was kidnapped along with other colleagues by the same group in August and released few days after.

According to news reports, more than 6,000 civilians were killed in Yemen since the war was erupted 10 months ago. Reports also said that 28,000 were injured and 2.4 million were displaced.
