JORDAN—Two teachers filed a law suit against their employers after being dismissed due to taking part in a seminar on fair wages.
Prior to this move, these two teachers announced in a session that was attended by the minister of education that they were dismissed from their work.
According to their lawyer, terminating their contracts violates the law.
One of these teachers, who work for a private school, said they used to receive less than the minimum wage in Jordan and prevented from taking any leave.
According to the ministry sources, the schools’ management said the invitation to attend such sessions should have been sent to the administration and not to the teachers directly.
