PALESTINE— Syndicate of Workers in the Agriculture and Food Industry sector in Palestine launched a new campaign to combat child labour and to reduce the prevalence of this phenomenon especially in the agricultural sector and food industry.
The Syndicate said this phenomenon should be combated out of a social responsibility and not an individual effort.
The government, they added, should come up with laws to fight and reduce child labour, in addition to punishing those who violate laws.
The Syndicate called for coming up with economic and social programs that seek to provide dignity for workers. They also blamed employers for employing children and called on the NGOs to educate the public about risks of child labour.
