MOROCCO: Moroccan Labour Union win partial elections

 MOROCCO – Moroccan Labour Union won a landslide victory in the partial elections of the employee comity in the House of Councilors, which took place last Thursday, with the participation of workers representatives from private sectors and public institutions and members of the bilateral committees of the public administrations and local communities and the private sector at the national level. Moroccan Labor Union reaped impressive results due to its activists from all professional sectors in all cities and got more than 3,000 votes. A statement, issued by the Union said that the Moroccan workers through these partial elections renewed their confidence in the Moroccan Labour Union and confirmed its support for the struggles the union face with the government especially in the major files like the retirement File. The Union is the only trade union in the parliamentary group of the second room and the public opinion agreed that they played an important role inside the legislative Council and that its performance in defending workers was outstanding. The union appreciates the symbolic value of this seat, especially it came at a time were many of the government’s policies are against the rights of workers. The Union stated that despite the professional nature of these elections that concern workers, some political parties interfered openly for political exploitation, to get electoral deals in the forthcoming elections.
