Palestine: Palestinian High Court of Justice is considering the appeal submitted by the General Federation of Trade Unions

Palestine – Palestinian High Court of Justice looked today in the appeal submitted by the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions against the Palestinian Ministry of Labor and the Palestinian Monetary Authority’s actions and decisions relating to halt all bank accounts of the associations and trade unions.

According to the decision of the court, which was held at the courthouse in Ramallah (the court decided to issue an interim decision to notify the callee, the Labour ministry and the Monetary Authority, to send a statement on the reasons which prevent the cancellation of the decisions and / or send a statement of the legal reasons that justify such decisions the court urge the callee to consider this call in a hurry for it is being linked to public freedoms”

Commenting on the decision a number of Palestinians lawyers said that the court decision to obligate the callee to send a statement within one week and announce adjournment of the session on 31 May is considered a

positive precedent because the court used to give the callee 15 days notice and set the second meeting a month later. .

In conjunction with the meeting, dozens of trade unionists demonstrated in front of the court and raised slogans condemning the attack on trade union freedoms and interference in the administrative and financial affairs of the unions.
