Iraq- Hundreds of Iraqi protested on Tuesday evening, in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, described Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s reforms as formality, and considered the demonstration after Iftar “a successful experiment.
One of the demonstrators, Ghazanfar Laibmi said that hundreds demonstrated this evening in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, to demand real reforms” noting that the country is corrupted and we must eliminate it”.
Demonstrators believe that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi reforms is kind of formality, and is neither convincing nor effective”. Laibi stressed that it is very important start real reforms that promote the state.”
civil rights activist pointed out that the Baghdad Operations Command, cut off all roads and bridges leading to Tahrir Square, in order to weaken the protest and make it fail, but they failed to achieve that” he added “hundreds participated today’s demonstration after iftar which made it successful”.
Demonstration coordinating committee decided on Monday (the sixth of June 2016), to organize a demonstration on Tuesday after Iftar to demand reforms, and rejected the calls to postpone it and called the Parliament to meet the peoples demands for reform.
