Egypt – 12 workers from Egypts international Ceramica in industrial zone in Menoufia continue their hunger strike for the fifth day against the arbitrariness of the companys management and neglecting wage increases and not providing occupational health and safety means in the factory.

Workers have started their strike in July until the beginning of this month when the owner of the company promised the workers to meet their demands and on the 10th of August workers went back to work and ended the strike only to find more abuse from the management and threatening them of dismissal although the management made their promised in the presence of members of the House of Representatives and delegates from the Ministry of Manpower.

The companys management dismissed 52 workers without giving them any reasons and the also dismissed 100 workers and hired them back with new contracts and forced them to sign statements and warnings that allow the company to dismiss them at any time without giving them any of their rights stipulated by law.

Center for Trade Union & Workers Services announced its full solidarity with the workers for they are exposed to injustice and arbitrariness, referring to the seriousness of the current situation, which raises despair in the hearts of workers and make them lose confidence in achieving justice and apply the law and gain their rights. The center asked the officials to end all forms of exploitation of workers and meet their legal demands.
