Algeria –hundreds of unemployed young people from Ouargla have been protesting for years to demand job opportunities, but their protests have not find a solution for them despite the presence of more than 60 national and foreign institutions in the region tat could provide them those opportunities.
The young people have been carrying slogans that describe their situation such asthe capital of work with unemployed youth, The richest state in Africa, unemployment is artificial, and they are also demanding the departure of the Agency for state and National Employment agency’s directors.
What makes it more complicated for the young people is none of the responsible parties in the region have met with them. While the basic requirement for the young people is to be employed in the petroleum companies such as (entp), (ensp), enafor), (onageo), but the unemployed protesters said during their protests that these companies only hire those who know the officials.
Although the Prime Ministers Abdul Malek Salal decision issued in 2013 gave priority to the people of the region to be employed, however, the Secretary General of the National Confederation Advisory for coordinating associative movement of Ouargla Qwaider ben Hanish says that this decision was not enforced, which is still causing protests.
Qwaider believes that the problem of the employment issue lies in the lack of coordination between the operating segments at the state level. He also acknowledges the state agency did not receive any employment request in the past two years.
The problem also lies in the lack of follow-up of the initial agreement for foreign companies which determine the positions of Algerian and foreign workers, this agreement takes care of foreign workers, while Algerians are employed in companies that offer low wages.
