Morocco: The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change «Cop 22» finished their last session in Marrakesh today as Marrakech Action Proclamation for our Climate and Sustainable Development.
The Conference participants welcomed the Paris Agreement, praising the ambitious objectives and dedication principle of shared responsibility and respective capabilities, in the light of different national circumstances, as they affirm their commitment to its full implementation.
The participants also praised the unprecedented dynamism witnessed by the climate change file in many multilateral forums », calling to« seize this global interest in the broad climate change in order to move forward to reduce greenhouse gases emissions and support sustainable development plan for 2030 and its ambitious goals.
They called for solidarity with countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and to enhance their capacity to combat this scourge, urging all parties to strengthen efforts to eradicate poverty, ensure food security and reduce the effects of climate change on agriculture.
In this context, they called for an increase in the volume, flow and access to finance for climate projects, alongside improved capacity and technology, including from developed to developing countries. stressing the need to achieve the goal of mobilizing $ 100 billion in the framework of the Paris agreement which entered into force on the fourth of this month.
The participants unanimously agreed that the United Nations Climate Change Conference «cop 22» Marrakesh forms a significant milestone in the course of joint action to combat climate change, where they witnessed the entry of the historic Paris climate agreement into effect on the fourth of this month, and the accession of many countries to ratify it and the commitment to its ambitious goals.
They also stressed on greater solidarity with the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, stressing the need to support efforts aimed at strengthening their capacity to withstand and reduce their vulnerability.
As all the parties stressed the need to strengthen efforts to eradicate poverty and ensure food security as well as to take tough measures to meet the challenges posed by climate change on agriculture.
The participants called for the urgent work, to raise ambitions and strengthen cooperation among themselves in order to bridge the gap between current emissions pathways and the road that is necessary to achieve long-term climate goals of the Paris agreement.
They have also called for further support of the Climate Action By the year 2020, taking into account the special needs and circumstances of developing countries, the least developed countries and especially those most vulnerable to the effects of catastrophic climate change, this was also among the points demanded by the Marrakech Declaration of climate.
The participants also stressed that they are turning towards implementation with renewed determination to increase the solidarity, hope and opportunities for the current and future generations.
They pointed out that the people are suffering, but the struggle grows more and become more powerful, stressing the importance of collective consciousness to achieve unity as well as respect for diversity.
The meeting also demanded the release of the prisoners and stressed the need to protect the defenders of the environment all over the world.
