Egypt: Egypts cabinet approves the new labour law and passes it to the Council of State

Egypt- Egypts cabinet approved this morning on the draft new labour law, which will replace the existing Labour Law No. 12 of 2003 . The cabinet will pass the draft  to the State Council to review it legally and constitutionally then refer it  to the Egyptian parliament for discussion and issuance.

According to statements by the Minister of Manpower, Mohammed Saphan, said the law aims to protect the Egyptian worker and provide minimum workers rights in line with the business, as well as to open the way for investment and encourage business owners.

He pointed out that the draft law amended the special vacations for working women in order to allow them some kind of stability. the law also reassure the Egyptian worker and business owners, as it added some texts to protect both, he also pointed out that the law tackled forcing the employer to write the resignation in advance issue, and stipulated that the resignation must be approved by the labour offices and the Ministry of Manpower.

He explained that there are current negotiation and discussions with businessmen in order to agree on the minimum wage for private sector workers, and set it to be between a thousand to two thousand pounds at the beginning of the work. He also pointed out that the new law tackled the insurance issue and activated the inspection of the workplace to protect workers rights.
