Iraq: strikes and widespread controversy after the governments decision to grant Khor Abdullah to Kuwait

Iraq – many workers in different sectors protested after MPs in parliament said that the cabinet voted on Tuesday to grant the Khawr Abd Allah Channel to Kuwait, and described it as a betray. Khawr Abd Allah is located on the north of the Arabian Gulf between the Kuwaiti islands of Bubiyan and Warba and semi-Iraqi Faw. Khawr Abd Allah extend into Iraqi territories, forming Khor Al-Zubair, which is located by the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr, while the Iraqi government in 2010 laid the foundation stone for the construction of Faw port on the Iraqi side of the creek. Workers say that  Abdullah Khor is an important channel that may contribute to qualitative leap in the countrys economy and improve the living conditions of the citizens, and no one is  entitled to donate it, considering that this issue affects all Iraqis and all iraqis should stand against it. the united nations settled the Iraqs borders with Kuwait in 1993, based on resolution 833 during the former regime, the issue came back on the scen in 2013, when Iraq signed an agreement to regulate maritime traffic between the two countries in Khawr Abd Allah during the presidency of Nuri al-Maliki.  And they agreed that this agreement aims to regulate maritime traffic not the demarcation of the borders.
