الجزائر: أكثر من نصف مليون عامل في البلديات يدخلون في إضراب اليوم

Algeria – half a million workers in municipalities across the nation will enter on strike for three days, which will include protest marches in front of the municipal headquarters to claim the demands submitted to the concerned authorities.

The National Federation for workers in municipalities condemned in a statement the ministry for ignoring the demands to review the employment law and unify other special labour laws, as well as the integration of contractors and temps without exception, especially the pre-operation and social network contracts.

The statement stressed the need to apply the grants and compensation system retroactive to January 1, 2008 in accordance with Article 85 of Executive Decree No. 334/11 dated 2011/09/20, and reconsideration of the grant and compensation for municipal workers and the rejection of the new labour law draft that does not meet with ILO conventions.

The statement urged the government to reconsider the family grants and raise it to two thousand Algerian Dinars and raise the stayed at home women grants to eight thousand Dinars unconditionally, along with maintaining the pension formula under the age requirement and taking into account the period of national service and lower the income tax.

The National Federation for workers in municipalities embarked on a nation-wide strike on April 25, 26, 27 calling on authorities to respond to their earlier demands.
