Morocco – Workers at Maghreb Steel Company protested yesterday in the street against the termination of more than 800 families and assign new workers which is considered flagrant violation of Article 16 of the Labour Code.
Protesters wore Guantanamo suit in an expression of arbitrariness of their management, this protest comes after a six months long strike they did to demand better work condition but was ignored by the company.
Maghreb Steel Company has been struggling mainly because of significant exports decline to Europe. The companys management confirms that the European market has been a promising market, where they consume large amounts of steel, but the crisis has reduced demand in many countries to unprecedented levels, and some European companies have begun exporting to Morocco, which led to dumping of the Moroccan market
