The Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) comprises 21 member and partner unions representing over 7 million Arab workers in Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, the Sultanate of Oman, and Bahrain.
Membership in ATUC is subject to a set of formal and substantive conditions and standards. ATUC brings together unions that share key trade union principles, most notably independence, freedom of trade union activity, and representativeness. The regulations of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and ATUC govern the criteria and conditions for membership acceptance.
