Social Protection

The Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC), together with its member organizations, is committed to promoting the concept of comprehensive social protection and occupational safety and health in the workplace. This is achieved through the representation of workers’ interests and the defense of their rights, to improve working conditions and enhance living standards.

ATUC works to strengthen the role of trade unions in collective bargaining with employers and governments to secure better working conditions and employment terms. It also seeks to empower the Arab labor movement and enhance its capacity to advocate for workers’ rights effectively.

In addition, ATUC supports its member unions in raising workers’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities. Through education and awareness-raising programs, workers gain a stronger understanding of their rights, which reinforces their ability to claim better social protection and improved occupational safety and health standards.

ATUC further contributes to empowering its member organizations to participate in policymaking processes through inclusive social dialogue with governments and employers. These efforts help shape more comprehensive social protection policies and safer, healthier working conditions, benefiting all members of society.

Through this work, the Arab Trade Union Confederation aims to promote equality and combat discrimination in the workplace, thereby enabling trade unions to play a central role in building a more just and inclusive society
