Tunisia: The Transport Federation postpones its strike after reaching an agreement with the government

In a statement issued on 25 January, the federation said that the negotiations with the ministry’s representatives led to a “historical” agreement, adding that discussions would still be held to continue the debate on a few unresolved points. The federation said that the strike has been postponed to 15 and 16 March.

The Federation is calling for an improvement in the financial situation of public enterprises and for clarification of their future. In a press conference, a representative of the UGTT stressed that the government “does not believe in dialogue and negotiation” regarding the “difficult” situation of public transport companies which, despite their disastrous situation, have still not been the subject of a major recovery plan.
