The protesters, most of them women, expressed their rejection of the arbitrary dismissal process that affected them after selling the company, and then suspiciously stopping its activity, according to the workers. The workers, more than 300, submitted complaints in which judgments were issued in their favour, but have not been implemented so far.
The protesters demanded compensation for the arbitrary dismissal, and an investigation into their involvement in the social funds that the company deducted from their salaries and did not pay, in addition to a gift that European shareholders gave to the benefit of the wage earners and did not receive it.
It is worth noting that the workers, whose wages have been suspended since December 2020, carried out, beginning in May 2021, a sit-in that lasted about a year and a half in the company’s building until they were evacuated by the security forces based on a court ruling.
