Mauritania: CLTM demands permanent status for 2,500 porters

In a press release published on 14 January, the CLTM called for the immediate implementation of an agreement that provides for the tenure of 2,500 porters and for the launching of a dialogue on this same agreement in order to improve the salary conditions of these workers.

The trade union centre also called on the porters not to accept the proposal of voluntary departure (in exchange for one million ouguiyas, or $27,472), announcing the cessation of coordination with the port administration until the demands are met.
