The global wage report issued by the organization at the end of last November stated that 6 Arab countries recorded positive average wage growth, namely Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. However, Morocco and Egypt recorded negative growth in average wages. ILO indicated that the available data was insufficient to know the real rate of growth in the value of wages throughout the Arab region.
A table attached to the Global Wage Report 2022-2023 listed wage rates in the Arab region as follows: Qatar ranked first with $3,214, followed by Bahrain with $2,167, and Oman with $1,833. The average wage in Saudi Arabia was $1,745, followed by Kuwait with $1,112, then Lebanon, with an average wage estimated at $777. Jordan ranked seventh with an average wage of $769, followed by Morocco with $488, Algeria with $303, and Egypt in tenth place with $226.
It is worth noting that the wage rate is calculated by dividing the total wages of employees in a given country by the number of its employees.
