Mauritania: Veterinarians in public health protest

In a press release, the syndicate explained that the ministry violated the civil service laws, the Labour Code and the decree regulating the veterinary profession, denouncing the repression exercised against trade union officials who had been wrongfully transferred.

The syndicate also recalled that public health veterinary workers face extremely difficult material and moral conditions and called for the creation of a risk premium, a travel allowance, the payment of overtime, the creation of a premium for departmental inspectors, the regulation of certain grades, and the organisation of the veterinary profession. The statement added that the strike will be maintained until an agreement is reached.
