Lifting the strike comes after reaching an agreement between the authorities and truck drivers to revise tariffs in line with those regulated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, provided that the new tariffs are not linked to changes in fuel prices. It has also been agreed on to add the sum of one and a half dinars to the transport costs of phosphate, potash, and sulphur. This agreement will come into force at the beginning of 2023.
It is worth noting that truck drivers went on strike after the government increased fuel prices last November, for the sixth consecutive time in two years. The strike was widely supported and bus drivers, taxi drivers and transport apps signed up.
