Bringing together the Mauritanian Teachers’ Alliance, the National Secondary Education Syndicate (SNES), and the Mauritanian Public Teachers’ Syndicate (SEM), the new coalition is calling for an increase in teachers’ salaries and allowances as well as the provision of housing and land plots for professionals in the sector.
The new coalition, called the “Joint Committee of Primary and Secondary Teacher Unions”, issued a statement announcing that “other protest movements will be organised” until the ministry in charge responds to the teachers’ demands.
