The employees’ representative in the trade union coordination body explained that the main demand of the employees is the implementation of the increases decided by the government, which should increase the basic salary by one million and 325 thousand pounds ($870) in addition to the social aid it promised to the employees and which continues to be “confiscated” by the Ministry of Finance.
The union official added that the employees are not even able to go to work anymore and their basic salary barely reaches 980,000 pounds ($643) while the salaries of all other public officials have been increased.
